Media & content creator policy

The Retro Event

Photographers, videographers, and content creators - please read this before you shoot.

Welcome

We love having media, photographers, videographers and content creators at The Retro Event. The content you guys create helps grow the community and showcase what we're building.

To keep things fair, respectful, and running smoothly, we have a simple media policy.

Media pass required

If you plan to take photos or videos for public use (social media, YouTube, websites, etc.), you must have an official Retro Event Media Pass.

How to get a Media Pass

Media passes must be arranged in advance and picked up prior to the event from our store.

You can email us for booking and meeting with our events organizer Arrol using our contact us form.

This is important - we use this time to quickly go over expectations, rules, and answer any questions.

No same-day pickups at the event.

What the Media Pass includes

  • Early access from 9:00am (before general public)
  • Permission to film and photograph throughout the event
Important - This is NOT a VIP pass.

You still need to purchase a standard event ticket.

Early entry is simply to give you a chance to get clean shots before crowds come in.

Respect Vendors & Attendees

Our vendors are the backbone of the event.

  • Always ask for permission before filming or photographing a vendor's booth or products
  • Respect if someone says no
  • Be mindful when filming attendees, especially kids

If you're unsure - just ask.

Tagging & Credit

If you're posting content from The Retro Event, you must tag us properly in your posts.

This helps us grow and keeps things fair for everyone putting in the work.

If you're featuring a specific vendor, tag them as well where possible.

If we're not tagged, we'll assume you're not following the media guidelines and may not approve future media access.

General Conduct

  • Don't block walkways or disrupt foot traffic
  • Don't interfere with vendors making sales
  • No setting up large equipment without prior approval
  • Be respectful to staff, vendors, and attendees at all times

We want creators here - just don't make it a mission for everyone else.

Why We Do This

We've had a lot of great creators support the event, but we've also had issues with people filming, posting, and not crediting the event or asking permission.

This system keeps things fair and helps everyone benefit.
